The questions you need to ask yourself before you buy new tech…
As a tech company and IT provider we often get asked for recommendations for hardware solutions such as a new printer, router, CPU, speakers and so on. It’s sometimes difficult to answer these questions straight away without asking another five questions to the initial enquiry.
Below we list a few questions to ask yourself, before you ask for assistance.
- What will you use it for? i.e. business or pleasure?
- What other technology are you going to use it with and what would be your ideal end result – i.e. I’d like to voice command prints from my iPhone.
- How often will you be using the item and for what lengths of time?
- Will the item need to be mobile or will it sit in an office?
- What is your budget?
These questions help us greatly and can give us an initial understanding of what you are after. The fun comes next, for example do you want to print from anywhere wirelessly. Perhaps you need a wired connection to your router rather than a wireless printer!
If you want a new screen, is it a second screen for emails, or a screen for gaming? These answers change our answer and recommendation dramatically. Pre-existing ideas of technology limitations exist and although are a barrier at times, we like to suggest innovative solutions for our clients.
We want to help you find the best solution. By thinking these questions through and clarifying on first contact we can relate our knowledge to the best piece of tech for you. Let’s innovate together.
