Make the most of your keyboard shortcuts

There are hundreds of keyboard shortcuts and depending on whether you are a Mac or a Windows user, your trusty tech will have its own superpowers. Below we list a few of our favourites

.

Bring back a closed tab

Accidentally closed a tab? Simply press Ctrl + Shift + T to reopen the most recently closed tab and get back to what you were doing (Cmd + Shift + T on Macs).

Minimise all windows

Sometimes you have a bunch of stuff running, and you want it all to go away so you can get to the desktop. Simply pressing Windows key + D will minimise everything you have up, which will save you some time pressing the minimise button for each window.

Use private browsing

The uses for not having cookies and history saved are obvious for certain activities, you know, like shopping for gifts on a shared computer (of course!). Pressing Ctrl + Shift + N will launch a new private in Chrome, Ctrl + Shift + P will do it in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Use Quotation Marks to Narrow Your Search

If you’re searching for something in Google but getting bogged down with irrelevant results, consider wrapping your query in quotes. By doing so, Google will only show results that exactly match whatever you might have in quotes. It often makes it easier to find what you’re looking for.

Print screen

Simply press ‘PrtSc’ to take a screenshot of your whole screen and copy it to the clipboard. You can also change this shortcut so it also opens screen snipping, which lets you edit your screenshot. Select Start  > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard, and turn on the toggle under Print Screen shortcut.
