At techrelate we love working alongside other businesses that can provide innovative services and products in order to deliver our clients the best IT support in London and we recently finished working on a particularly exciting project that we wanted to share with you.

Earlier this year we spent some time working with market leading public wifi vendors, Purple Wifi, to help them implement a networking solution for The Craft Council’s annual contemporary craft show, Collect. Throughout the process we learned more about the work Purple Wifi do and how they’ve managed to seamlessly blend managed wifi and legally compliant data collection to provide fantastic public wifi to customers, while providing invaluable marketing data to business owners and event managers.

Each year the UK Craft Council launches Collect, an international fair for contemporary crafts that reaches huge audiences. This year the four day event took place at the Saatchi Gallery in London and achieved record attendance of 12,000 visitors. That was a lot of people looking for free public wifi to join in with the social media buzz that surrounded the show…and that’s where we came in!

Providing a mixture of both design and networking support, techrelate worked alongside Purple Wifi and Collect’s venue to design bespoke landing pages and bring robust managed wifi to the event, ensuring that everything ran absolutely seamlessly. Such a high amount of users could have created networking issues and slow speeds, but we provided ongoing infrastructure support to make sure that the service performed consistently, however many users were online at any one time.

We’re pleased to report that The Crafts Council have plans to utilise this technology in conjunction with their touring exhibitions, which will see them take the UK’s best crafts to a range of venues across the country.

Working as a managed service provider alongside Purple Wifi has helped us peek inside the booming world of IT events management and see what a great impact public wifi can have.
